Character first.
Everything else follows.
The Crafted Paw is the canine portrait work of Tampa photographer Marc Edwards—a project built around a simple idea: dogs deserve portraits that feel as individual as they are.
A photographer's eye,
turned toward dogs.
Marc has worked professionally as a photographer since 2008, creating portraits and visual stories for people, businesses and organizations throughout Florida and beyond. The Crafted Paw grew from a more personal fascination: photographing dogs outside the conventions of a studio, in places that give them room to reveal something genuine.
The approach is observant rather than over-directed. There is time for the composed, stoic portrait—but also for the glance away, the sudden sprint, the curiosity and the small behaviors an owner recognizes instantly.
That balance between intention and unpredictability is the point. The goal isn't simply a beautiful photograph of a dog. It's a portrait that feels unmistakably like your dog.
The environment matters.
Fields, trails, gardens and open spaces aren't scenery pasted behind the subject. They create room for behavior, atmosphere and a sense of story.
Nothing useful is forced.
Some dogs settle quickly. Others need to explore first. The session adapts to the dog instead of asking the dog to adapt to a rigid shot list.
The photograph is only the beginning.
Careful composition, editing and finished artwork turn a fleeting moment into something designed to live in the home for years.
Tell me about your dog.
The best portrait begins with knowing who we're photographing.
